Marine Basic First Aid Course with CPR-C & AED
This Marine Basic First Aid course is designed for individuals expected to provide first aid in a marine environment. You’ll learn essential first aid skills and CPR, with training focused on responding effectively to medical emergencies at sea.
Marine Basic First Aid Course Contents:
In this Canadian Red Cross program, experienced instructors use a combination of activities, discussions, and real-life scenarios to prepare you for emergencies in a marine environment. The course meets all requirements outlined in Transport Canada Transport Publication (TP) 13008 E.

Course Details
Duration
8 hours online learning followed by 8 hours in-class*
This is a comprehensive 16-hour blended course designed to provide learners with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to respond effectively to medical emergencies in a marine environment.
Prerequisites
Learners must be 16 years of age or older to participate.
No previous first aid certification or experience is required to enrol in the Marine Basic First Aid course.
Completion
- Demonstrate a working competency of all required skills
- Achieve a minimum score of 75% on a written, closed-book knowledge evaluation completed independently
- Attend and actively participate in 100% of the course
- Adhere to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross
Certification:
- 3-year certification in Marine Basic First Aid and CPR/AED Level A or C
- 3-year certification in Intermediate First Aid and CPR/AED Level A or C
- 5-year certification by Transport Canada
- Certificates are issued by Red Cross upon successful completion
Transport Canada Certification:
The Transport Canada certification will be mailed to you. Please allow extra time for delivery after you successfully complete the course.
Recertification Notice:
Recertification of Marine Basic First Aid is not permitted under federal regulations. If you wish to obtain the certificate after it has expired, you must complete the course again.
Learners who no longer require Marine Basic First Aid certification can continue to maintain current Intermediate/Standard First Aid certification by attending an Intermediate/Standard First Aid Recertification course prior to its expiry date.
