Become a Certified Psychological First Aid Instructor
Become a Canadian Red Cross Psychological First Aid Instructor with Pacific First Aid in Metro Vancouver. This instructor development course prepares learners to confidently facilitate Psychological First Aid training focused on resilience, stress management, trauma awareness, emotional wellness, and crisis support.
Candidates build the skills needed to teach Psychological First Aid concepts in workplaces, schools, healthcare settings, and community environments through interactive learning. This course is ideal for educators, workplace wellness leaders, first aid instructors, healthcare professionals, and community support workers.
Participants must be at least 18 years old, hold current Psychological First Aid certification, and complete Fundamentals of Instruction training before certification.
Instructor Course Overview
Step 1 – Prerequisites
Participants must hold a current Psychological First Aid certification and successfully complete Fundamentals of Instruction training before advancing in the instructor development process.
Step 2 – Instructor Development
Learn how to facilitate Psychological First Aid training using interactive instruction, case-based learning, group discussion, and supportive teaching strategies aligned with Canadian Red Cross standards.
Step 3 – Facilitation Practice
Practice delivering Psychological First Aid course content while developing communication, learner engagement, facilitation, and classroom management skills in a supportive learning environment as part of your Teaching Experience (co-teach).
Step 4 – Course Topics
Instructor candidates learn to teach topics including stress, trauma, grief, resilience, coping strategies, emotional wellness, crisis response, and psychological support techniques using the Red Cross Psychological First Aid framework.
Step 5 – Certification
Upon successful completion, participants become certified Canadian Red Cross Psychological First Aid Instructors and can deliver approved Psychological First Aid training programs with access to instructor resources and ongoing support.
