This Standard First Aid course is delivered by an official Red Cross training provider in Metro Vancouver. It is designed for workers, supervisors, and safety coordinators who need a WorkSafeBC‑accepted Intermediate First Aid (OFA 2) equivalent or BC Child Care Licensing‑relevant certification. You’ll learn comprehensive first aid and CPR skills applicable to both workplace emergencies and home‑based incidents.

Standard First Aid Course Contents:

In this Canadian Red Cross program, you’ll practice hands‑on skills for real‑world emergencies, including head and spine injuries, bone and joint injuries, sudden medical emergencies, and poisoning (including opioid emergencies). All topics apply to adults, children, and infants.

Course Formats

Full Course (In-Person)

  • Prerequisite: None
  • Duration: 2 days (8 hours in-person each day)
  • Comprehensive in-person training
  • Covers full theory and hands-on practical skills
  • Ideal for learners who prefer a traditional classroom experience

Blended Learning (Online + In‑Person)

  • Prerequisite: None
  • Duration: 8 hours online + 1 day (8.5 hours in-person)
  • Online portion must be completed before the in-person session
  • Online theory at your own pace
  • Shorter in-person session focused on hands-on practice

Recertification

  • Prerequisite: Valid Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid with CPR & AED certification
  • Duration: 8 hours online + 1 day (8.5 hours in-person)
  • Note: For recertification, participants receive the full course at a discounted rate but must attend 100%, as required by WorkSafeBC.

Certification:

  • Valid for 3 years
  • Accepted by WorkSafeBC as an Intermediate First Aid (OFA Level 2) equivalent
  • Accepted by the BC Child Care Licensing Regulation

What is Blended Learning?

This format combines online theory and in-person practical training. The online portion (reading of knowledge content) must be completed before attending the in-person session.

Ideal for busy schedules or for those who prefer to complete the theory at their own pace.

Recertification Notice:

WorkSafeBC requires all course content to be fully retaken. Discounted rates apply for those with a currently valid certificate attending the full course.
