5 Ways to Increase Cognitive Function

There are days that you can just feel off you’re A-game and just out of it. It can be challenge to pull oneself out of this sluggish state, although there are some tricks you can use to boost your cognitive function and bring you back to a sharp state of mind. Here are 5 quick tips to help you increase that brain power:

MOVE IT! Get out there and move your body! One of the best ways to engage your brain is to get physical and work out. Even if that means just a few push-ups next your desk and awesome jumping jacks to get your blood flowing! Exercising is a great way to bring you back to life so don’t just sit there get up and work it out!

Be interested and engaged! Getting into something with passion and curiosity lights the brain like a Christmas tree. Try learning an instrument, do a puzzle, play game of chess, learn something new! The brain loves to learn, we as humans have an inherent thirst for knowledge. Quench your minds thirst and devour new exciting pieces of knowledge!

Best Friends! Humans are social creatures, we love to socialize and engage in conversation with other humans. Surround yourself with interesting and kind friends that you can have exciting and intriguing conversations with, have debates, critical think, brain storm and bounce ideas off one another it is amazing what can be dreamed up when we put our heads together.

SLEEP! Sleep sleep and sleep some more, make sure to get your 8 hours in! It makes all the difference and your body truly needs its beauty sleep. So, don’t deny it, whether that means setting a bedtime or finding ways to wind down at night so falling asleep is easier. Sleep is paramount!

CHILL! Reduce your stress levels! A little bit of stress here and there can be a great motivator. But chronic stress can be paralyzing, weighing so heavily on our minds that we hesitate to make the right decisions or to do our best. So, don’t hinder yourself with stress, take a breath and go forward, one task at a time. You got this.

READ! Find something exciting to read! It can be tough to find time to read during our busy lives, but don’t underestimate the power of being a reader. Here is a beautiful quote about reading written by George R.R. Martin, about reader. “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies", said Jojen. "The man who never reads lives only one.” So gain some experience and dive deep into a book!
