No matter how carefully we plan out our days, life happens to the best of us. Unexpected meetings pop up, appointments that were scheduled weeks in advance are cancelled, and unforeseen circumstances wreak temporary havoc in our lives. When it comes to emergencies around the house, we may find ourselves in a pinch when we reach into our First Aid kit in a panic…only to find out that we forgot to replenish x.
Today, we’re sharing our tried-and-true list of common household items that can be used for minor First Aid treatments:
-
A baking soda paste can help soothe insect bites, stings and mild rashes. Just add a bit of water with some baking soda to make a paste and apply it directly to the affected area.
-
Dissolve salt in warm water to make a saline solution for cleaning wounds or gargling a sore throat.
-
Frozen veggies work as an instant cold compress to reduce swelling or bruising.
-
Unused sanitary pads or diapers can be used to control bleeding until professional medical help is available.
-
Duct tape can be used to secure bandages or gauze.
-
